Zac's Status Quo Dream

South Wales

14/12/2016

Status quo's song 'Whatever you want' definitely came true for Zak, our latest Dream Catcher aged 21 from Cardiff.

Zak who has Edward’s syndrome, got the opportunity to play the drums on stage during Status Quo’s sound check at the Motorpoint arena in Cardiff.

Zak sat at the drum kit for over 30 minutes with Status Quo’s drummer Leon Cave. He tested the sound level of each drum during pre-show rehearsals for their “Last Night of the Electrics tour’ prior to the band playing in front of 5,000 fans. His dream ended with the opportunity to demonstrate his drumming talent by performing a drum solo. Leon who prior to joining Status Quo was a drum teacher, gave Zak plenty of advice and was extremely impressed by his talent. Zak was presented with a crew T shirt, a pair of signed drumsticks and signed drum cover as a memento of his amazing day.

Zak, who was overwhelmed by the experience said “I can’t believe that I got the chance to play in front of Leon, my drumming idol. This has been the best day of my life.”

Zak’s goal of becoming a drum teacher came ever closer thanks to a £150 donation to spend on drumming equipment from Financial Planners Clifton Nash based in Cardiff and Bristol.

Dream Co-ordinator Vicky George from the charity ‘Follow Your Dreams’ who organised the day said “I will never forget the constant smile on Zac’s face whilst drumming on stage. Amazing days like today are what makes working for this charity so special.”
