ONE Welsh youngster enjoyed the thrill of a lifetime last week when he met his football hero Gareth Bale.
Twelve-year-old Curtis, who plays for Brackla under-13s, was at the Vale Resort to watch a Wales training session.
The visit had been arranged by the charity ‘Follow Your Dreams’ as a special treat for Curtis who has high functioning autism.
There was a lot of excited chatter among the specially invited guests when the Welsh players arrived for the training session. As Gareth Bale went onto the pitch he said to Curtis: “Are you okay?’
After training Bale began signing autographs. Curtis could scarcely believe what he was seeing and asked his hero: “Are you actually Gareth Bale?”, only for Gareth Bale to joke: “No, I’m fake.”
Curtis then asked whether he could have a picture taken with the great man who obliged and said: “Do you want my top?”
The exchange received over 21,000 likes on Twitter.
Curtis then wisely asked Gareth Bale to sign the top. Curtis’s grandmother Sylvia said: “It was lovely for Curtis – we have been amazed by the response. “It was an ‘invitation only’ event and Follow Your Dreams was able to make it happen.”
Just days later, Wales beat Austria 1 – 0 to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
